Week 4 - Throwing some Shapes - Day 28 of 112

Who calls their disco Coasters?
Managed to get back from the bank dance unscathed having thrown my usual dad shapes on the dance floor. A privilege for all of those who were able to experience those moves. I am pleased to say that my ears have stopped ringing and the blood that was coming out of them seems to be drying. Sitting behind the 500 woofer tweeter mega base speakers did not help. There were the usual overdressed, under dressed, badly dressed and the have you seen what she is wearing moments as well as a near miss wardrobe malfunction after one women got a wee bit carried away after winning a grand in travel vouchers. Oh and we won an Ipod nano in the raffle! And as for the DJ - why was he wearing a tie?

Managed out this evening for a 5 miler with what was termed strides thrown in. I have not a clue what this exactly means. I am presuming that they are one level short of a fartlek but not quite an interval. I am getting the hang of this marathon lingo. Back to the usual haunt and the canal. I doubled up on the tights so the groin and the hamstrings had alot of support. Pitch dark so the head lamp came in useful. No runners but a couple of dog walkers and a duck. Nice and easy. Achilles felt ok and at the end when I was doing some strides I felt no discomfort whatsoever. In fact the new shoes felt for the first time really comfortable and worn in. Did not wear the HR strap. Felt that at the end I still had loads of energy.

The cadence meter was all over the place this evening. There is no way the numbers below are a true reflection of the correct cadence. Will need to take some time and get it calibrated.

Numbers - 5 miles - 40.24mins - cadence 71.3 - 698 calories
