Week1 - Rest and be Thankful - Day 5 of 112

No better way than to start the day with a cockroach crawling over your feet as you are having your first pee of the day. I have to thank the Western Baths for that particular pleasure as I took to the water for my swim of the year. Managed my usual 1200 yards before calling it a day . This is a rest day from training but as I will still be doing my triathlons later in the year does no harm to keep my hand in. Good work out over the 40 lengths of the 30 yard pool. HR at the end was at 140bpm. Technique improvements are

coming on but have to be realistic that only swimming once a week is not going to improve the technique dramatically.

I am sure that I will be thankful for the rest as the weeks progress but at the start of the marathon schedule you are so enthused and keen to run that a rest after only 4 days running seems unecessary. Wishful thinking I'm sure!

First test for the achilles on Sunday with a 10 miler. There was a twinge again at the end of last nights run. Trying to keep up with the stair exercises and will monitor progress.

As Fridays will be a rest day for me, I will use it to get a swim in and comment in the coming weeks how I feel the training is going. I will also weigh myself to see what effect the training is having. Not really started to eat more at the moment but experience tells me that the carbs will be taking a hit very soon.
