| "Away you go!" |
As Ron Pickering used to say at the end of "We Are The Champions" it was full steam ahead on Sunday's run. I was down for a test half marathon but given the trials and tribulations over the last 10 days with the heavy cold and the achilles issue, I was just glad to get out the door for any run whatsoever. I rummaged about the cupboard for an old pair of Omnis and managed to unearth 2 pairs of Omni 7s which appeared not have have too much wear on the midsole. I think that they may be 4/5 years old. I really only need them for 4/5 days until the new shoes arrive by the end of the week. They were surprisingly comfortable.
How was the achilles? Well there was certainly a feeling there but it never degenerated over the run which was a positive. I am thinking that the sensitivity may be down to the constant strength exercises and stretches that I have been doing constantly since Saturday. After 3/4 miles I did not feel any discomfort at all. I wound up the pace abit on the last two miles and finished the run on a creditable 39.58 minutes. I had a long stretch after the run and will ice over the achilles. Emma said that I needed to try and ice 3 times a day. This may be difficult as iIdo not think that we have a freezer at work. Will need to seek the assistance of the police on the 3rd floor of our building.

Physically there are still some of the remnants of the cold but nowhere near as bad as last week. No constant blowing of the nose. I noticed that the radioactive yellow stuff seemed to have now taken a liking to my left nostril only . There seemed to be nothing coming out of the right at all. The cough has subsided after I took what felt like a litre of Covonia liquorice cough medcine. Mmmmm nice. Next week I should be back to something like a full week.
On with the stretches.
