| Not my thing |
Got out of bed this morning for an early morning 5 miler. Realised that I had not been out for an early morning jaunt for a couple of weeks. Most of my training over that time had been done at night as I tried to catch up on some zzzzs. It is still a struggle to get out in the morning without any food but it gives me more time to do other things in the evening. I was a bit apprehensive going out after the success of the previous evening. 12 hours of a lay off may not have been enough for the injury to settle down. Although the achilles was stiff and slightly tender I need not have worried. After a very easy 8.50 pace start I settled into 8 minute pace and had no pain from the achilles. 8.50/8.01/7.50/7.59/7.59. I managed some stretches at the end and applied the first of my three ice sessions.
As I cylced to work I thought to myself how wonderful it is to feel well again. The nose has dried up and there is no real cough and my head is clear. Your health is so underated and it is only when you turn the corner after being unwell that it hits home. I think that for those that keep good health it is something that we take for granted. I must remember that the next time that I am knackered and cannot be arsed going for a run I need to remember back to this entry and shift my lazy ass out the door because if you are in good health being tired or having no motivation is simply not a reason to sit on the couch.
Timed the finish of my run with the end of the Run Run Live podcast http://www.runrunlive.com/ where he plays some music to pick up the tempo to. This episode it was some punk band that no-one has heard of. Now punk is not really my thing but I gave it a blast up the hill to Northcote. Gimme some more of those endorphins.
