Week 10 - Gold Session not Killer Session - Day 67 of 112

The Hoff
No-one looks forward to a killer session or killer workout least of all me. The reminders of sessions passed where the pain has been terrible, the 5km from hell, the lactic acid build-up, the gasping for breath, the burning lungs as you strive for an extra second - all negative connotations. The result in calling these Killer Sessions is that they become something to dread and not as they should be another building block in the process of a training cycle. Listened to Marathon Talk Podcast and one of their Olympic interviewees suggested calling them Gold Sessions. This does not have the negativity of a Killer Session and combines a striving for excellence with a reminder of your goal. It doesn't stop them hurting though!

Got back from work late on Thursday and decided to give up on the idea of the 3 mile threshold session on the canal. Tucked into a delicious Thai curry instead. Will see how the run goes tomorrow morning. Helped Amy with her Space Project which is growing arms and legs as the days go on. Somehow the conversation got on to talking about tariffs for murder and Amy asking if you get a fine for murdering someone. I had to explain to her that the person who committed the murder would be sent to prison for a period of time and that the period of time was dependant on a number of factors such as the circumstances of the crime, the person murdered etc. She then put a most bizarre scenario to me which tells us where we are at with this modern day culture. She asked "So does that mean that if someone killed the Hoff they would get a longer sentence?" Oh if only someone would kill the Hoff , if only!

Resting up today for the onslaught over the weekend. Killer Session Gold Session on Saturday with a 20 miler - last 10 miles at marathon pace. That will tell me where I am at in this marathon cycle.
