Week 10 - Is there a B&Q in Alloa? - Day 70 of 112

Reviewing the situation
No two "a"s, two "l"s and an "o" as the joke goes. This week is the big build up race to London as I take on the 30th running of the Alloa Half Marathon www.alloahalfmarathon.co.uk/The gun goes off at 10am so I will need to leave Glasgow at around 7.30-8am. Probably need to be up for breakfast around 6.30am so that it has sufficient time to digest. I have had a look at the course http://connect.garmin.com/course/774104. It looks a pretty straight forward with only two climbs of around a mile and a half at mile 2 and at mile 10. The elevation on the first hill is around 30m and the second 40m is a bit steeper. No great shakes. There is a straight run from 4.5 to 9.5 on a fairly flat part and I can hopefully make some time up on that stretch. PB is around 1.23hr and I think that I will be doing well to dip under that. I think that as long as training goes well this week,I will give it a go on Sunday. It means running at around 6.20 mile pace which is a big ask looking at the times this schedule. I'd do anything to break 1.20hr.

Recovering well from yesterdays 20 miler. The meal out at the Buttery last night was excellent - food glorious food - and it was good to spend some time with Jen without the kids in toe. Some strange sights in the restaurant including an Eddie Izard type who was having dinner with his/her partner. Where is love? It was all going on last night. I think the recovery drinks are working. Had two now and the normal second day feeling of heavy sore legs has not been there. Reflecting on yesterday's run and looking over my training for Boston last year I do not think that I am too far off where I was at this time last year. I did feel that I may have peaked last year too early so if I am a week or two behind then that is no great issue. Still however a alot to be done as I approach the last month of training.

This evening I had a 3 mile easy run which was done just before dinner. With a cheery be back soon to the kids I was off to the canal and not a soul about other than one man and his dog. This was no ordinary dog and was a double ganger of Bull's Eye of Oliver twist fame. The Bill Sykes of Maryhill was of little use as his mut attacked me as I sped along the footpath past the high rises. The dog tried to attach himself to my right leg. Bill said that I should "Consider yourself lucky that he hadn't had a bite!". Reviewing the situation I think that I was very lucky. Enjoyable bimble to round off a solid week of training.
