| A chart of the % compression of my left leg? |
Compression - it should read depression. As I write the hamstring is getting only slightly better. There is still a pain when I extend my leg. Research on the web has led me to believe that I may be exacerbating the injury my massaging it too early. This may have the impact of spreading the blood creating more scar tissue. The suggestion is to use ice and compression. My leg is now therefore trussed up like steam pudding and if I do not watch I think that my leg will fall off due to lack of blood supply.
No running today as I have decided to give myself the best possibility of toeing the start line on Sunday. I am still thinking that I may go through. I do not think that I will be racing though. I do not think that my injury is that serious but it is impossible at the moment to know how long it will take to heal properly. Again I could go to the miracle workers at Achilles Heel but they will just give me a massage and tell me what i do not want to hear. I will just need to listen to my body and if I felt ok on Saturday evening then I will strap on the shoes and give it ago. I can always run trussed up like the steam pudding.
Amy came third in her music competition at the Glasgow Music Festival. She was playing the piano. She doesn't get that from me must be her mother. I do not know my crotchets from my quavers. What amazed me was that she showed no sign of nerves at all. I was there with my mum and I think that we were more nervous waiting for her to perform than she was. I spoke to Amy after and when I asked her if she was nervous she just shrugged her shoulders looked at me as if I had two heads and said "Nup! What a girl!. I do think that a certain amount of nerves are a good thing - it sets you up for the fight ahead. Where they are a problem is were they begin to affect your preparation which then ultimately leads to a poor performance. For me I think that nerves demonstrate that what you are about to do is important and matters greatly to you.
I have set my watch for hourly intervals to do stretches on my hamstring. Loving the pain!
