Why is it that there is nothing wrong with my achilles today? No pain nothing. I just do not understand it. It has been loupin the past couple of runs and lo and behold out this morning on my Bank Holiday jog along the canal there was not the merest hint of the achilles playing up. I just cannot fathom it. The hamstring was ok. Still feeling a tightness which remains there for the whole of the run. It does not degenerate just remains the same throughout. That is very annoying. In some respects I would rather the blasted thing just flair up to prevent me running or clear up completely. This half way house of it being sort of ok does nothing for my mental state. I have been drawn once again to the web and hamstring exercises. The printer is knackered so I have had to draw stick man figures on a piece of paper so that I can remind myself of the exercises that I need to do. There was one that I did which has left a pain in a particular area of the hamstring. Not so good. Need to persevere with these and hope that I can strengthen the muscle sufficiently to allow a pain-free race.
I have decided to hit the drugs and am overdosing on as much vitamin c and zinc as I can to try and shift this cold. I must also start to catch up on sleep and concentrate on the diet in the next fortnight. Off the cakes and cram in as many veggies as I can. I can begin with trying to get to bed at 10pm and throwing out all of the easter eggs accumulated over the last couple of days
I managed 39.30mins for the 5 miler this morning but the effort taken should have equated to a faster time. I There is all this talk about how you feel lethargic on the taper and the doubts about whether you have done enough training surface. Does this only apply to those who have managed a full schedule or those who have missed the best part of 3 weeks. It sounds like winging. I need to zip up the man suit and get on with it. I am where I am and need to make the best of these last 2 weeks. Staying positive is the only attitude that I can have.
It was busy on the path this morning. Counted a half dozen or so like minded folk doing their thing.
Numbers - 5 miles - 39.30 -
Splits - 8.28 - 7.52 -7.52 - 7.49 - 7.26
