Week 1 - The Good The Bad and The Ugly - Day 2 of 112

This was supposed to be a 5 mile run at marathon pace - 6.52 minute per mile but only realised this after I had finished with the Garmin ticking over to record six miles - duh! The good was that the achilles gave me no problem at all. The bad was that I was no where near the marathon pace. I busted myself and could only clock 7.18. The ugly was that with about a mile and a half to go I bonked. Never happened before but I could not take another step.
The HR was up at 170 and it was as if the tank was empty. Very strange feeling indeed. Walked for a minute managed to get it going again but have to say it is a bit of a worry. I ran at about 4pm and had only eaten my breakfast so could be down to nutrition. I know that it is early on the training but this is a wake up call to demonstrate how much work will be needed as I progress towards London so with this in mind I have posted a a picture of Bill Rodgers taken in his running store in Boston to give me some positive imagery. Here are the numbers 6m - 43.49 mins - 7.18 pace - 166 avg hr

  1. Gosh, this training seems to have taken it's toll already...you've aged ever so slightly :(
