| Don't do this at home |
Woke up at 1.30am this morning as I tried to swallow another razor blade. The cold has made a final attempt at clinging on via my throat and wow was it painful. I raided the medical cabinet in the kitchen trying to find some asprin to gargle with but had to make do with paracetemol. In addition to crushing up and trying to dissolve paracetemol that was not disolvable, I tried some of the kids' cough medicine and toddled back to bed. Before hitting the sack, I bundled myself up in another blanket and put on a beanie to see if I could sweat it out. I sight to behold! Woke up again in the morning and felt so much better. Not so well to go out and run but a feeling that the fug that I have been in over the last 4 days had cleared. Everything seemed to be in sharper focus all round. It was strange but enjoyable none the less. As the morning has gone on the running nose has returned and I feel as if the cold is not prepared to leave at the moment. Louise, my secretary, came through with some Lemsip Max unannounced and that was a nice touch.
This weekend I am back down the road to Machrihanish to finish off the floor and get everything ready for the guests at half term. I have an 18 miler booked for Sunday and 45 minute Fartlek run on Saturday. I will certainly give the Saturday run a go and if I pull up on Sunday in reasonable shape then I will brave the elements for the slog on the Sabbath. It is important after a lay off not to jump back straight into where you left off as far as the schedule is concerned but I am taking the view that if I have missed anything it is just one day so should be able to get right back into it where I left off.
