Week 5 - A second-class return to Nottingham, please - Day 30 of 112

"Tunes help you breathe more easily".
I woke from my slumbers this morning with what felt like a head the size of beach ball. My face seems to have puffed up to what feels like twice its size as my cold takes a firm grip of proceedings. I have not had a cold this winter so I guess one was due. Once the girls fell foul of the snivels then it is usually only a matter of time before it hits. This one was different though. It started as it always does with a dry throat. Liberally applied Manuka honey did not do the trick so onto the next stage which is normally a running nose. Before this however I was hit by  "The Harry Rednapp" - fully bunged up leading to strange noises coming from my nose as I try to breath - or at least that is what Jen says.  Congestion is something that I usually by-pass and move straight on to emptying what remains of my sinuses through my nasal passages at a rate of knots unknown to man. How can one head hold so much fluid. After a couple of decongestants, I was flowing freely and now my waste paper bin resembles that of a pre-pubescent teenager.

Amy is off to hockey this evening so I have scheduled in an hour's easy run. It should have been a 10 miler but I will not have time for this. I will see how it goes and see if I want to finish off the 10 miles later in the evening. Managed 7 miles in the hour and am not going back out - that will have to do today. Eyes feel heavy after a long day so will try and get some quality zzzs tonight. Run was an easy 8 min pace and managed to keep within the limits on the canal. It was cold out tonight and my mood was not helped by me forgetting my gloves. By the end four fingers on the left and three on the right had turned white. Achilles was tender but managed to persevere. Some good positive exchanges with three separate runners waving as I passed them.

That bloody nose is still running. Will need to call the plumber!

Numbers - 7.25 miles - 57.58 mins - 7.57 min pace - 137 HR avg - 74.1 cadence - 1002 calories
