| Who's got the freezer bags? |
Croc watch tells me that the hamstring is feeling fine. I think that will try a run out this evening to see how it goes. there is still this issue at the back of my mind that the hamstring will go at any moment and I guess that this will be the case until I can get a good solid week of training without a relapse. Regular stretching and strengthening exercises are the order of the day. Thinking ahead to the weekend I think that I will divide the long runs into two or three over the weekend and see how I react. It is all at a very slow pace which is just infuriating at the moment but at least, as I said yesterday, I am back in the game.
Got another run out this evening. A short sharp run down to the shops to buy some provisions. We are about to have the kitchen wall knocked down and mayhem is about to ensue with the loss of cooking facilities for 6 weeks. Builders start on 9th April, a couple of weeks from the race. I am now cooking countless pasta meals to freeze. The place looks like an industrial kitchen at the moment. Managed a tad over 7 min pace on the run and the hamstring held up well. I have now tied a 3lb free weight to my left ankle and am walking around the house trying to do leg lifts at every spare moment. I think that I will have a spin on the bike tomorrow as Jen is out. Amy is talking about doing some runs around the block so I might join with her.
Two runs now without any downside. I think I need to try a 5 miler on Saturday morning and then try out another one later in the day. If I can manage that then I think that I can do a longer run on Sunday. The schedule has me down for a 20 miler but that would simply be foolhardy to attempt that at the moment. Usually you will taper towards the marathon but it looks as if I will be trying an inverse taper in the lead up to London.
The numbers - 40 lengths - avg 2.10 -
- 1.47 miles - 10.25 mins - 7.06 pace - 85 rpm - 201 calories
