Week 14 - Rod Hull - Day 93 of 112

Can you fix my aerial?
Praise be to the old duffers of Campbeltown. Between the hours of 8am and 10am they have commandeered the pool at Campbeltown. So I was shown the door when I pitched up there at 7.45 am this morning to try and do my laps. The whole pool for 2 hours. It's a bit much! I hope that this is not the way that the day is going given the aerial company manager failed to phone last night as promised by one of Sir Bob's minions. The roofer is due at 10.30am. What chance him turning up?

The weather is foul today. Cold, biting wind and rain. More like February than April. Did that deter me from strapping on the shoes and taking on a 6 miler on the beach. Did it heck as like! Running on the soft sand is tough. Add to the mix a biting wind and before you know it you are running 10-11 minute miles. The hamstring was sore - where have you heard that before but not such that it prevented me from running. The HR strap shows some strange results since I have changed the battery. It have me running at 160+ at the start of the run. I know that I have lost some fitness but that is ridiculous. Running back with the wind was as expected much easier. On occasions the hamstring eased off. The heel was sore as well. I really need to start the exercises again. Did not feel tired on a positive note. I cannot wait until I can get out for a blast at a good pace and feel physically knackered after a run with my heart bursting out of my chest. I am really missing that after 3 weeks off. Ran back along the golf course and picked up the pace. I feel as if I cannot force the pace at the moment.

Ironically I was listening to a podcast about a guy who has been running Boston in the last 10 years but has decided due to injury not to do it this year. He has just made the decision. Is this where I am going?

My faith in man kind has been restored. Not only did the roofer pitch up but he apologised for being late then gave us a reasonable quote for the roof repairs. Next my wood turned up after the women that I ordered it from was pretty evasive about getting it to me so that I can repair the garage before Friday. And low and behold the manager from the aerial company phoned me and it looks as if we are getting a new dish situated somewhere the aerial man can service it from. This guy who is doing the work installed it, has repaired it once and now apparently has an aversion to working on roofs. An aerial fitter that does not like heights. You could not read about it!

The numbers 7.14 miles - 1.14hours - more info to follow
