Week 14 - Sky - Take the biscuit - Day 97 0f 112

The Crocodile Rock tomorrow
Well, I am not going down to Machrihanish on Monday because Sky have now said that the booking made on 4th to have someone fix the dish has been cancelled due to health and safety reasons despite the person who booked the job knowing the issues regarding H&S. I have just spent the whole morning fighting with them again. The problem is that these complaints departments are all trained in placating customers and are so focused on this that they have become unable to actually sort out customers problems. There is nothing more infuriating than having to explain the same story to someone new every time you contact them. They have washed their hands of the whole sorry mess. I feel a complaints letter is the only way that I can exact the necessary retribution. At least it will make me feel better.

Back on the toepath this evening for a blast out on the canal. Felt brilliant. The work on the beach has helped strengthen the hamstring and the run was quite easy. The Garmin is down in Machrihanish so it is unlikely that I will have it for London. I may get the cleaner to send it up to me as it feels a bit naked running without it. It does give some good accurate figures and I need to know where my fitness is at so that I can work out my goals for the race. I used the Ipod to work out the mileage. It is clearly not calibrated properly. The 6.12 mile run on  Daily Mile  equated to a 6.52 run on the Ipod. This women kept speaking to me whilst I was running. It was rather nice. "You  have completed 1 mile" she would say in an American accent. "You are half way" and so on. I wonder if they do one in Glaswegian - "Shift yer arse, yuv only done a mile ya lazy slob"

I have taken quite a bit of confidence from this run. With the tubi in place, I felt no real issue with the hamstring. Tried raising the pace on the penultimate mile and got it to around 7.30 without much difficulty. The HR was not a problem and seemed on the low side. I never reached the VO2 max. I reckon the effort was probably a 3/5. The achilles was probably more of a problem. I have done the icing thing on the hamstring and the achilles and will see how it pulls up tomorrow. Will try and have a go at running round the Millport tomorrow. I need to have a blast out at marathon pace in the next couple of days to see if the hamstring holds together.

The numbers according to Ipod - 6.52miles - 49.04mins  - 7.32 pace - calories 854 -
